Menopause is a tough period for a woman’s body. It’s the end of the reproductive phase that starts with puberty during the teenage years. This is an excellent time for women to begin thinking of a fitness plan. With the kind of hormonal changes that the body goes through, a female body needs exercise not only to help cope with these bodily changes, but also to help reduce stress.

With a fitness plan women can cope with a lot of menopause related discomfort such as water retention, weight gain, stress, and in some cases depression. A lot of women look at menopause as the end of their lives, and need a new lease at life to move ahead. Exercise can bring them that great change.

Yoga: There are specific fitness plans women can get into for menopause by introducing yoga into their life. Yoga stretches are designed for different stages and menopause exercises through yoga has proven affective for millions across the world.

Simple exercises: If yoga is not your forte, there are other exercises that you can try. If you have not been into exercise, stretching, walking and taking the stairs can help introduce a fitness plan women need during menopause. Take one part of your body a day and work them using simple exercises.

For example, work out your arms and shoulders on Monday, stomach and back on Wednesday, and Thighs and legs on Friday. This doesn’t mean you need to do full blown weight training. It just means some simple stretches like twisting, back and side kicking, and rolling your arms.

If you have been into exercising for most of your life, menopause should pass you by like a breeze. But do check with a trained instructor to find out if you need any changes to your fitness plan due to menopause.

Simple changes in your lifestyle and keeping tension at bay can be great additions to your life when you are going through menopause. Since mood swings are common during menopause, steer clear of anything irritable and confrontational.

Exercise during menopause can help reduce the signs of aging by allowing blood flow into all parts of your body and keeping your joints agile. By reducing and adjusting your food intake by talking to your nutritionist, you can also eliminate any possible age related ailments from affecting you as well.

Swimming is also another great menopause fitness plan women can get into since it is relaxing. If you are a little adventurous, look for a water aerobics class around your area. This can be a great addition to a fitness plan women need during menopause.
